Kai is a minor character in Tales from Nowhere who appears in the cold open of Episode 1. Kai is one of three YouTubers -- along with Esme and Lucas -- who venture into the area surrounding Nowhere to film content for their channel. The group encounters and is attacked by a Mothman/Flatwoods Monster hybrid creature.
Kai is portrayed as a friend and content creation partner of Esme and Lucas. During the cold open sequence, the trio is filming what appears to be a paranormal investigation or urban exploration video when they attract the attention of the creature. The attack on the group serves as the audience's introduction to the supernatural threats that exist in and around Nowhere.
Like Esme and Lucas, Kai's ultimate fate following the creature attack is never confirmed in Season 1, leaving their survival ambiguous.
